Worth Every Penny

Gracie got an American Girl Doll for Christmas in 2008. She was well played with and this past fall her hair took a turn for the worst.

When I went to New York, I visited the American Girl Doll store, to say I was smitten was an understatement. With 4 glorious levels of dolls, displays, books, clothes, cupcake bakery, picture studio & tea room, I was enamored.

Gretchen got her doll for Christmas this last year. Gretchen was showing Grandma Gloria her doll's cute clothes and Grandma's eyes lit up. That is how I felt when I was in the store. I could tell she was another lady who would enjoy a visit to the American Girl Doll Store. On the spot, I invited her to join me, Gracie & Gretchen for a trip to Denver. We are centering our trip around a visit to the American Girl Doll Store but we will see Wicked as well!

Because the dolls will be accompanying us on the trip, it was necessary to send Gracie's doll to the doll hospital (you should look your best for a lady trip). It was quite expensive. We had to pay for shipping, the box, insurance and the new head. Anyway, Gracie has been doing a few jobs to cover the cost. The other day the doll returned.

It was worth EVERY penny (Gracie has not worked it off, so I can say that cause it was my pennies and her doll.) She was in a fresh doll box, with the most adorable little socks, a hospital gown, pink ribbons, a get-well card and hospital bracket. It was just like getting a new doll.
I inherited my love of dolls from my Grandma Jo. Granny would have loved to get this package too. She had several (maybe 40+) dolls of her own. Each of my girls got one when she passed.
My mother was sweet enough to encourage my love of dolls. I remember when I got Gracie her first real doll ($100.00) I was so embarrassed to tell her how much it cost. She was so cute when she replied that it would be a wonderful investment.

Oh, I wish that there was a before picture. I had know idea that she had hair problems. I am so glad that you were able to get her fixed.
If Grandma was here she would have loved to fix her up and give her a story. She had a story for every doll.

Enjoy your trip!

I wish I could go with you. I havn't fallen in love with American Girl dolls YET, but I sure do like a vacation!

I love that Josie loves babies. Its funny that you posted this today because I was in Kings - yes Kings - today and Josie was playing with the babies. I was thinking how mom would be so ashamed of Josie's dolls (they are really ugly) Mom was always so good to make sure I had cute dolls. I would buy Josie cute ones she is just really attached to the ugly ones she has.

I feel a little silly when my reality get mixed with my TV life but did you happen to see the Modern Family when they go to the Doll Dr?

Steve just asked what I was reading (because I am supposed to be working on something else) and I told him. Then he asked, "So that whole thing on Modern Family was real?"

This is my favorite! I don't know why I never got one of these, I'm not too old am I? I did get a baby every year for Christmas until I was 18 but nothing like this. When I saw that Modern Family I was in love, now i think I might have to plan a trip to Denver myself!
