Talent

Gracie is very talented. She writes songs all the time. I have kept as many as I can get my hands on, but because I have hide them somewhere special I can't find them. I just found this one while I was cleaning the house.

I started to post it and Mike came in. He said it was sad & not to post it. I told him that while the song has an "overwhelmed" theme, our daughter is not a sad girl. I am impressed that she can't put words like this down. He worries because she is so young. I guess I made a good point because he said "you had better copy-write it before you post it, that way she can make a lot of money."

Evidently she even has a tune for it. It took a long time for her to share her songs, maybe when she masters the guitar, we will get to hear it with the music.

When I Was Little

When I was little I used to think life was just a game. When I grew up it turned out nothing was the same. I hope that didn't happen to you because it changed so much it's hard to live through.

First it was all about playing on the play-ground, next thing I know it, drama, dating & boys. What happened to my life, there was nothing wrong, now it's all crazy & I can't figure it out. Why?

Wake me up form this nightmare. Make it all go away. Don't let any of it stay. Wake me up.

During church Gracie wrote this cute little poem about hummingbirds. It took her about 3 minutes.

Hummingbirds

Hummingbirds are so tiny & very light

Their colors are so very bright

They are very small

Don't grow to be very tall

Can be the colors of blue & gold

Don't live to be very old

They go around & land on flowers

Humming birds do this for hours

Then Mike took her paper and pencil and whipped this out in less time than it took her.

Gracie Ballard is real cool

Gracie Ballard ain't no fool.

Quick & whitty from the start

Makes sarcasm a work of art.

Tall & pretty

Yes it's true,

But that's not all

That she can do.

Throw and catch and play frisbee

Play 4-square and ball with me.

When she was a baby we got in a wreck.

I hope she remembers to show me respect!

She is so fun when she's happy

Almost as much fun as me.
