Squirm

Gretchen had her 1st grade program. She was hysterical about the whole thing. She wanted to practice her part over & over. It seemed that the best time to practice was when Jake was doing his homework. Her voice is so loud that it really didn't matter when she practiced, we couldn't handle it. Besides, she had it memorized. We tried to bribe her with a trip to Farr's Fresh if she did her part with a funny voice. She wasn't having that, but she was going to Farr's Fresh.
Once she looked me straight in the eyes and with her most serious voice commanded, "Mother, today I will be brining home a script. What I need you to do is, NOT throw that away!"
I didn't and I am glad I didn't. She would get it out and go over it. She would start a line to one of the songs, go off key a little and then verbally correct herself and give it another try. It was just like an actress running lines for the big show.
She invited Grandma & Grandpa Ballard. They are always so good to support our kids. Mike went to the early show and we went to the afternoon program. She did a great job and while she didn't do her part in a funny voice, she did it loud and clear.
The program was all about bats, worms and things that make you squirm. It had to be my favorite program so far.
We did take her to Farr's Fresh, but we did it the night before the program because Gracie was in California and Jake was sleeping at Grandma & Grandpa's with Jack. She loved putting everything she wanted on her ice cream, being the only child & sitting in the middle.
