Grandma Great

I didn't take this picture, but it is the perfect picture of my granny. She makes amazing quilts. And she is always using that incredible sewing machine. She keeps it right in her bedroom and it has been there for as long as I can remember.
When we get married she gives us a quilt. When I got married, I wanted mine to be out of fabric I choose, mostly so it would match and be cute. I actually tricked her into making me two for my wedding. They are amazing. She had my darling aunt Janetta piece together the one for my bed and the other was a rooster quilt. I was really into roosters when I got married. She quilted around all the roosters, even the little ones all around the edge.
She made a quilt for each of my kids when they were born too.
When Jake got his own Cowboy room I bought him a bedspread. Because he had some difficulty with potty training I had to wash it several times. The stitching came undone and I almost threw the quilt away. My cute friend Amity talked me into unpicking the rest and having my granny quilt it back together.
For the first time I can remember, she asked me to "mark" the quilt and help her with it. I had no idea what went into a quilt. My back hurt, my fingers hurt, it was unreal. I learned a lot about the sacrifice she had made for each of us.
Her quilts are very treasured. Anyway, Lindsey is always bragging about the quilts she gets from Granny, and she has a right to because she has some good ones, classic granny quilts.
I am so excited because I went to her house the other day and she let me pick another quilt. Now these quilts were not quilted, they were tied, but they are fantastic just the same because they are quilts that she had pieced together with fabric from clothes and other quilts that she had in the past. Now Lindsey isn't the only one with bragging rights.
