Our Ride to School

Jake: Today I have to write to 100 with a pencil that isn't sharp.

Me: Well, can't you sharpen it?

Jake: No, my teacher has to. We can't use the pencil sharpener.

Me: Well, just ask her to sharpen it.

Jake (exasperated): I can't. We have to put it in a can that has a sad face on it. Then she sharpens it and we can get it out of the can of happy pencils.

1) I hate pencils, but dull pencils are the worst. Imagine writing to 100 with a dull pencil. I love that he was dreading writing with a dull pencil.

2) A can with a sad face & a can with a happy face just made me giggle.

3) The poor boy, planning ahead is really hard to grasp in kindergarten.
