Gracie's 8th Birthday

Today our little lady turned 8. This morning she started out with an early birthday celebration at school. Mrs Powell gave her a cake mix & a cute poem. She took her favorite treat, Blow Pops, to share. Grandma Gloria picked her up before lunch & they went to Javiers but the power was out at the 2 locations they tried. They enjoyed a big meal at the Sonora Grill. They were too full to eat the entire banana split. After a yummy lunch Granny took Gracie shopping for jewelry. They hit a wonderful sale & came home with a heart necklace, a star necklace, a snowflake necklace that came with earrings & 2 additional pairs of earrings. She was also able to get a cute mint green jacket & a fun stationary kit.
While Gracie was with Grandma, Mike & I went to Salt Lake in a storm, so her BFF could be there for her party tomorrow. They played this afternoon & then tonight we went to dinner at Javiers. It is one of our family favorites. Gracie said that she wanted us to tell them it was her birthday. Jori told them & then said, "Gracie, you owe me big!" They laughed & laughed. Gracie's eyes sparkled while they sang to her.Gracie wore one of the lovely necklaces that she got earlier today. She lost it and about had a melt-down. We were able to recover the chain, but it was broken & the star was lost. She talked her daddy into taking her back to ShopKo to replace it. That is where we got these fabulous shots.I know it is Gracie's birthday, but this girl Greta is something else. Mike says she is like some kind of Napoleon Dynamite character. She loves a "Chick-a-lada" or enchilada from Javier's. She makes some pretty crazy faces, and the picture where she is standing in front of everyone else, her little back is bent forward and her elbows tucked in. Her whole body has expression.Look at her toes in her "milk-boots". She had on that leotard, and I told her to get pants on if she wanted to go with me. She came upstairs in a panic, stopped in front of me, put her knee out & rubbed her leg. "Mom, do these brown pants (thermals) look good like this?" (Mike honked) She said, "Mom, hurry! I am the kid he is waiting for!"The other day she was coloring and she was pressing pretty hard so the paper was kinda getting away from her. She said, "Whoa, Whoa, settle down ol' girl." She also asks a lot of questions, when I don't respond, she says "Mom, say YES or NO!" ...even if the question can not be answered with a yes or no. She also told me that Oney was the worst dog in this "whole town". She is really a trip to raise. She is so very different than the other 2.
