Three weeks ago I took Gretchen in for her 3 year-old well child check-up. Good news, no shots; Bad news, ear infection. Dr Barhorst decided that she would give it a good treatment with a strong antibiotic for 10 days and get her fixed to see if we could get her through the winter. We scheduled a follow up visit for today. He nose is junky, her throat is sore & she still has an ear infection. Dr Barhorst sent us right down to see Dr Schuller & now they are thinking that she will need her tonsils out. We go back to Dr Schuller on November 4th after we finish off another antibiotic and then he will give the final word. It is hard to keep taking her to the doctor & she feels so crummy. I hope that this winter will not bring more of the same. I think I will ask Dr Schuller to do another set of tubes just to make sure. That would be the first surgery where we got 2 for 1. Poor girl, they have done them all one at a time. Caution is nice, but we are at the end of our rope... not to mention out of sick leave. I took these pictures this morning when I should have been getting myself ready, but she just looked so dang cute!

I hope that if you can get the 2 for 1 surgery she will stay well all winter. That would be great. Plus with the extra money you save on her copays you could buy her some cany corns.
She is quite charming....the problem is is that all of your kids are charming. That really has to take a toll on your budget :)
GET IT DONE NOW!!! Yes, that is me yelling at you. When at precepted at Ogden Regional on pediatrics I took care of so many kids getting tonsil and adenoidectomies. Definitely get both tonsils and adenoids removed and definitely talk Dr. Schuller into the tubes.
Maybe once she finally feels better she will outgrow her baby stage? I'm just thinking that if I felt sick all of the time I would want to be treated the same way.

Poor Gretchen, there is nothing worse than a sick child. But, I wish I looked as cute as she does when I feel sick. It is not fair:)
That just plain sucks. I am sorry. I would feel more bad if her hair was dischevled (sp?) or she was shedding a tear in one of those pics, but she just looks too dang cute!
