Jake's First Loose Tooth

Yesterday as mother of the year, I let Jake suck on a helium balloon (don't worry, it didn't work, he couldn't breath in) when I was telling him what to do I noticed his teeth looked crooked. I thought it was a little early for him to have loose teeth but I gave it a wiggle & sure enough it was pretty dang loose. He told Gracie & Daddy that the tooth "got loosed" when he sucked on a balloon (that is what I need him telling everyone) He was so excited! He wanted to call Dean. He settled with calling Grandma. Anyway, he left a message for Grandpa Bruce to call him back but before he did the loose tooth turned into a lost tooth. was such a big boy, he let me pull it out. He did panic when he tasted blood, but only for a minute. I took some darling pictures of him and he went around walking & talking funny, like he had a major physical alteration.I got him ready for bed & on his way downstairs I heard him tell Gracie to keep her eyes open the tooth fairy would be coming tonight. He put his tooth in a baggie and fell fast asleep.
This morning, Gracie ran downstairs & pulled the baggie out. She was beside herself that Jake was not upset that the the tooth fairy had not come (I previously disclosed that I was the mother of the year). I got Gracie off to school & started the repair. "Jake, I had to write the tooth fairy a note when Gracie lost her first tooth because I like to buy your first baby tooth. The tooth fairy only gives you a dollar, but I will buy it for $5. Maybe the tooth fairy thought that is what you were doing." Jake replied, "Mom, she didn't come cause my eyes were open all night!" Good enough. I asked him if he would like to take it to school & show his class & then we could try it again tonight. He thinks he will take the $5 and go to "that new IFA store"
I should quickly mention that Gracie thought that maybe Santa & the tooth fairy were friends, maybe Santa told the tooth fairy that Jake's eyes were open all night long, "you know, cause Santa knows when you are sleeping, he knows when your awake" She sang me that part. She cracks me up & I love that even when she hears the truth, she doesn't want to believe it. I love being the mom.
