The Day Before, St Patrick's Day 2014

Granny Sharon sent out a text about wearing your green and a prize...
The Ballard's took the challenge and fully intended to win.
Jake and Gretchen got right to it. They put on as much green as they could find. Jake used the recycling to make a hat. He taped that Mtn Dew bottle to a headband and then the Thin Mint box to that. Lucky for him I was in charge of green Jello for Sunday's dinner so he was able to add two Jello boxes to the sides. He wanted me to draw all over his face so I wrote "Winner Winner, Chicken Dinner"
When he saw Mike come out in the full Aspen camouflage he yelled "NOT Fair!" Jake had on a green shirt, green shorts, green Scout socks and green Converse.
Gretchen collected every green ribbon in the drawer and wanted me to put them in her hair. We made a compromise and used 3. Gracie dressed in yellow and blue because yellow and blue make green. Gracie said, "Mom, they won't get it. They are Hall's not Ballard's." I was a little offended but sure enough they didn't get it.  ....Well Johnny did.
The baby had a green bottle, green binkie, green binkie strap, green bib & green jammies. Max even had on a green onesie. When Grandma Great saw our family she wondered why she had even tried.
Our collective efforts won us a shared $10 and the kids have spent it a million times.
