Gretchen Turns 6

All Gretchen wanted for her birthday was a goldfish. I told her that gold fish don't last very long. She told me, "I can handle it. Remember, I already went through a "deaf" with my guinea pig."
-fair play-
This request prompted our fish themed birthday party.
We had a pool party at Uncle Jerry & Aunt Joann's house. Jance had the pool & patio spotless. He had the tables out and came & helped me set up. He is darling. If you get a chance you should see his "Farmer Dive" it is fantastic!
Under the gazebo, we set up 2 tables for lunch.
Gretchen actully got 6 fish for her 6th birthday. One survived, I hope that is not a bad sign.
We had pizza and jello for lunch. After swimming we had some fish cupcakes.
Gretchen opened her gifts before swimming so that the girls didn't have to freeze while watching. It worked out so good. After she opened her preasnets she gave each of the girls a party favor bag with sunglasses, a fish shaped ringpop, a squirt fish & a cool fish straw for their blue drink.
Gretchen was lucky enough to have Grandma Great, Grandma Gloria, Alyson, Leslie & Emily join us. We are glad they did because we needed some lifeguards.
The girls had fun swimming and snacking on Swedish Fish & Goldfish Crackers.
This may not be a great shot of the girls all jumping in, but it was like the 5th try so we will take it. It was really hot & I was melting.
Then when we dropped the girls off Gretchen gave them each their own fish to take home. I channeled my inner Grandma Jo & wrote this cute poem:

Gretchen got her birthday wish.
She wanted you to get a fish.
Thanks for coming, you had fun we hope.
Please enjoy this "fishy" soap.

When the party was over, I had all the girls cheer. I was so excited that no one drowned and I was finished:)

Gretchen loves animals, telling me she loves me, being "comfty", & squirming in between her momma & daddy. She sings her words when she is in a good mood. She loves to tie her stuffed puppies up with ribbons and drag them around. She likes to look nice & hates it when I don't have time to do her hair. She struggles everyday picking out the perfect outfit. She can't wear levis or denim shorts because they don't match her shirt perfectly. She thinks things have to be the same color to look good together. She said if she ever has to get a cast, she will get white because it matches everything. She loves being our favorite:)
We are so lucky to have her & we love everything about her.

Thanks for the fun party. It really was great. And Rachel really does want to know how many trips to the store it took to buy everything. Does that make me sound like a lazy mom? She also asked if you wrote the poem, so I will tell her yes.

I think your jumping pictures are better than the ones I got. But I will still email them to you.

Happy Birthday to Gretchen!

I am a blog stalker. I am coming out :) I love looking at your blog and this post is just to cute not to comment on! This party is so creative...I am going to have to save this idea for my little guy who has an Aug. bday!

I hope you don't mind if I check from time to time!

Super cute! I wish I could give Gretchen our goldfish. Carter's preschool teacher gave them to all the kids as an end of year present and the stupid thing is still alive. I HATE it!!! Every day I think of ways to kill it, but I can't bring myself to do it. BTW Scott was very impressed with Jake's tattoos:)LOL
